Marco Island residents and businesses can be counted on to support a good cause, and the Vegas Island Style fundraiser event held Saturday, was no exception judging by the spectacular turnout.

Approximately 200 people attended the gala, sponsored by the Tommie Barfield Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and held at the Palladian Villa by APM Custom Homes, 786 South Barfield Drive.

Richard Mohring and Jeffrey Forchelli, owners of the multi-million home, donated the use of their home to the PTO for that evening.

The Tommie Barfield PTO raised roughly $8,000 at the event, and the proceeds will be used to support and fund various beneficial programs for the students, according to Dr. Jory Westberry, Tommie Barfield Elementary principal. Many individuals, businesses, organizations and restaurants donated their talents, time and monetary resources toward making Vegas Island Style a phenomenal success, stated Heidi Moss-Broxson, Event Committee chair, along with Cindy Pierce and Melissa Carlson, PTO president and vice president respectively.

Among other event supporters were, as table and slot sponsors, ARA; Dr. A. McGuffie, Island Mortgage; Island Garden Center; Upon A Star; Marco Eagles; Marco Community Bank; SW Florida Health; Kinetco; VIP Insurance; Premier Properties; Jim and Jane Watt; Palm Breeze Charters and Prout’s Plumbing.

More than 80 businesses and organizations donated items, goods and services in certificates for the Silent Auction and Raffle Prizes. Last but not least, special thanks was given to the 11-member event committee; food and beverage volunteers whose efforts were encouraged by Donna Lang; also, Tom Tramazzo for his entertaining musical support; check-in table volunteers and food donations from local restaurants, along with American Cleaning that promised to pick up the mess.
