The last prime Marco Island beach site, between Tigertail and Caxambas Point, has been reported sold by a Deltona Corp. subsidiary to Dutch investors. The 7.3-acre site, between Guflview Apartments and Admiralty House condominium, sold for a reported $3.1 million. Deltona Land & Development Corp. sold the property to Yaminta Corp., a Curacao Corp. located in the Netherlands.

Collier County commissioners rezoned Residents’ Beach from multi-family to recreation-open spaces.

Governor-elect, Robert Graham and wife Adele made an impromptu visit to Marco Island, staying at the Marco Beach Hotel and dining at O’Shea’s Wharf Restaurant. Tom Shea, restaurant proprietor and Herb Savage, Marco architect, joined the Grahams for an after-dinner drink. Graham invited both of them to his inaugural ball in January.

Commissioner John Pistor turned over the chairman’s gavel to E. E. “Doc” Brown of Immokalee on Tuesday. Pistor held the position for one year and remains on the board.

Riverside, a new 275-unit, six-story condominium complex in Old Marco, will be constructed by a Canadian company. Leonard Llewellyn of Marco Realty, said he already has 200 applications for the apartments, which will be rented as often as once a week in a unique plan for Marco Island.

Bill Edixon and Lisa Calhoun have taken over Stan’s Idle Hour Marina in Goodland. They offer live bait and tackle, have boats for rent and stone crabs fresh out of the water. Apparently it is a great partnership as the couple are getting married in a month.
