Were you aware that there are snowflakes descending on Marco Island? We’ve all heard the term “snow birds,” but recently a visitor to the MICA office referred to himself as a “snowflake.” He said that he and his wife go back and forth between Marco Island and New York, so their friends call them snowflakes! How funny is that?

Speaking of snow, which reminds most of us of winter and Christmas, another member stopped at the MICA office to buy a Christmas gift for her cousin. You didn’t know you could Christmas shop at the MICA office, did you? Yes, her cousin owns a house on Marco and has just about everything one could want, except a membership to the most beautiful beachfront club on Marco Island!

With our crazy economy, this holiday season most of my friends and family are looking to give gifts that are practical and useful. What could be more valuable than an annual membership to the Marco Island Residents’ Beach? I’m sure you could think of a gift that might be more useful, like an electric car, but can you think of a gift that offers so much fun for so little dollars?

For whom could you buy a Residents’ Beach membership? Anyone who owns improved property or rents for one month or longer on Marco Island is eligible for membership. If you would like more information about membership for yourself or a friend, please call the MICA office at 642-7778.

Maybe your friend is already a member of the Residents’ Beach club and you’re searching for the perfect gift for a proud Residents’ Beach member. We’ve got you covered. Come on in and check out our terrific t-shirts, beach towels and soon-to-arrive embroidered hats.

A few years ago, a man came into the MICA office with his Christmas shopping list in hand. On it was a list of about 20 names and their associated sizes. He started and finished his Christmas shopping within 15 minutes! I don’t think that approach would work for a woman, but it sure did work for him.
